Dennis G. Whelpley
Dennis G. Whelpley is a principal of the firm. He practices law primarily in the areas of municipal law and finance, business and real estate, currently representing clients that include area towns, villages and school districts. Notably, he is a “red book” listed municipal bond attorney with the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
Mr. Whelpley received his B.A. from Alfred University and a J.D. from Albany Law School. Upon graduation, Mr. Whelpley served four years in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corp. He practiced litigation in the private sector in Potsdam, NY before settling in Jefferson County. Mr. Whelpley is a member of the New York and Jefferson County Bar associations. He is admitted to practice before all New York State courts, as well as the U.S District Court for the Northern District of New York.
During the fall, Mr. Whelpley enjoys duck hunting from his backyard in Sackets Harbor where he resides with his wife. After a restful winter, he becomes an avid gardener of both fruits and vegetables during the spring and summer, having grown up on a farm in Wells, New York. He is known in the office for being accompanied by his beloved Labrador Retrievers, who can usually be seen sleeping by his side on a daily basis.
